Linking Functions With
Goals and Deliverables
Once the Strategies and
Goals of the Organization have been defined, the Goals can be
transferred to the Accountability Maps in the Organization Map
Folder (see graphic, far right.)
There is an
Accountability Map for each function in the organization. Within the
Accountability Map, each Goal is unpacked in terms of the
deliverables required to attain it. The accountability of each
function for attaining the Goals is expressed in the deliverables
for which they have responsibility or which they require.
The Accountability Maps
also show the dependencies between functions and can be expanded to
include the mutual responsibilities with partners, channels, etc.
This is very useful in aligning partners with your strategies,
developing partnership agreements and in managing partner
relationships. |

Functional Descriptions
and Processes
In addition to aligning
the activities of internal functions and external partners with
strategies and goals, the Accountability Maps provide a dynamic
basis for functional responsibilities and job descriptions.
This can be augmented,
if helpful, with the processes for each function. The Organizer
Mapping Tool has the capability to embedding processes (to three
levels) in the Functional Accountability Maps.
Deliverables to
Operating Plans and Budgets
Articulating the Deliverables for any given function makes it
relatively easy to develop their Operating Plan and Budget such that
it aligns with organizational Strategies and Goals.
You just need to assign
timelines and resources to the Deliverables (some of which will be
project-oriented, or discrete, and some of which will be
process-oriented, or ongoing).
